A case can be made … for almost anything, as far as the Giants and what they need to accomplish in this week’s NFL Draft, specifically what they need to get done Thursday night in the first round.
Unless they trade up or down, the Giants will make their selection after five players are off the board, and there are several routes they could go with the No. 6 overall pick.
Some cases are easier to make than others, even as this is the time of year when theories and propaganda and small lies and bigger ones run rampant.
For NFL general managers, it is Smokescreen Season. There is no reason for any of them to be transparent and lay out what they are planning. Strategy and gamesmanship are tools that can and should be used to gain any possible advantage in the draft.
