Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) won an uncontested race Wednesday to become the No. 4 Senate Republican, keeping her hold on a post in GOP leadership.
Capito served the previous two years as the No. 5 Senate Republican and was vice chair of the Senate GOP Policy Committee. She will now be chair of the committee.
The Policy Committee chair is tasked with organizing the weekly Tuesday policy lunches for members, which are a staple of every in-session workweek.
She will replace Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) in the role.
