Caitlin Clark registered her first block with the Indiana Fever.
The women’s basketball superstar has had quite the week that’s been filled with the WNBA draft, a “Saturday Night Live” guest appearance and an awkward interaction with an Indianapolis sports columnist.
And now, that week includes blocking former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on X.
The controversial ex-Buccaneers receiver seemingly targeted Clark’s appearance in at least one post on the social media website earlier this week, and on Thursday, Brown posted a screenshot that showed the Indiana star having blocked him on the platform.
After being blocked by Clark, Brown posted about Clark at least twice more on X, seemingly about her appearance.
Clark already dealt with an awkward situation with Indy Star columnist Gregg Doyel on Wednesday during her introductory press conference in which he mimicked making a heart with his hands, something Clark does toward her family after her games.
After the two went back and forth about the gesture, Doyel said: “Start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine.”
Doyel subsequently got ripped on social media for the interaction, and he posted an apology for what had happened.
“Today in my uniquely oafish way, while welcoming @CaitlinClark22 to Indy, I formed my hands into her signature [heart hands],” he wrote on X on Wednesday. “My comment afterward was clumsy and awkward. I sincerely apologize. Please know my heart (literally and figuratively) was well-intentioned. I will do better.”
As for Clark, the all-time leading scorer in Division I basketball history, she seems excited for her professional career to get started amid all of the hectic nature that has been the last surreal week.
“I think the biggest thing I’m trying to remember is how grateful I am to have this opportunity. You know there’s so many people who would kill to be in my shoes,” she said. “When things seem like they’re long, you’re tired and you feel like I have to do this, I have to do that, I try to remind myself how grateful I am to get these opportunities. I’m lucky to have these moments.”
