Burgum Says ‘Impossible To Imagine’ Biden Replicating Trump’s 72-Hour West Coast Swing

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who is a veepstakes contender, touted on Sunday how much former President Donald Trump got done over the last few days on a West Coast campaign trail swing while arguing that President Joe Biden could not keep up.

“Wow, I wish America could see President Trump on the stump like I’ve seen him in the last 72 hours,” Burgum said during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend” with co-hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Pete Hegseth.

“I mean, first of all, I spent my career in technology,” Burgum said. “I knew a lot of super hardworking tech CEOs, but nobody works harder than President Trump. I mean, the number of speeches he gave, the number of hands he’s shaken, his hand, literally, like people shaking his hand so hard he’s got it bruised, but the guy just keeps on going.”

“And roundtables, talking to people about the issues that matter to them, listening and curious and digging in,” he added. “I mean, it’s impossible to imagine Joe Biden doing one of these events, much less back-to-back to back-to-back for 72 hours, flying around between Arizona and Nevada, Northern California, Southern California. It’s really incredible.

Polls show a close race between Trump and Biden less than five months out from Election Day in November. While Trump contents with a flurry of criminal cases while seeking a second term, Biden has sought to shrug off concerns about his mental health and physical fitness as the 81-year-old has looked frail or appeared to lose his train of thought at times.

Burgum, who is one of the Republicans to whom Trump’s campaign has reportedly sent vetting materials amid the search for a running mate, argued that the excitement in this year’s election appears to be on Trump’s side ahead of his expected rematch against Biden.

“I think that when people see him, they see the depth of his care about the country. And he’s right on all the issues that matter,” Burgum said of Trump. “And that’s why you’ve got record fundraising happening. That’s why you have record turnout. That’s why I have people lining the streets, because they know that he’s the guy that’s going to solve the issues that they care about: the border, inflation, wars abroad, all these things. And it’s very exciting.”

Burgum declined to address being on Trump’s list of potential vice presidents, saying he would “just defer any questions back to the Trump campaign team,” adding that the former president has a “chance to win” in the battleground states of Virginia and Minnesota.
