Boy, 14, stabbed in broad daylight attack by teen rival as NYC youth violence continues: sources

A 14-year-old boy was stabbed in broad daylight Thursday as a fight with another teen spilled out of a Brooklyn deli – just hours before another boy knifed a would-be robber in Upper Manhattan, cops and sources said.

The 14-year-old was involved in a scuffle that began around 2 p.m. inside Taha Deli and Grill on Flatlands Avenue near East 81st Street in Canarsie, sources said.

A witness told News 12 that the two boys were messing around in the deli, and the older teen was armed with a knife.

The victim appeared to challenge the 15-year-old boy, daring him, “You won’t do anything.” The armed teen then snapped back, “You don’t think I will?” and stabbed him in the leg, the network reported.

The boy was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the alleged stabber ran off and hadn’t been caught by Friday.

Three hours later, a 16-year-old boy was accosted by a group who tried to rob him on Broadway near West 156th Street in Washington Heights, sources said.

The victim told police one of the menaces – believed to be between 17 and 20 years old – snarled, “I told you I was going to catch you,” according to the sources.

The teen then knifed the suspect who had threatened him and then ran into a nearby beauty supply store for help, the sources said.

Responding cops found the knife at the scene, but the robbery crew – including the stabbing victim – had already escaped.

Police requested a search of citywide hospitals, but the wounded suspect was nowhere to be found.

The teen told police he had stabbed the suspect out of self-defense, the sources said.

No arrests had been made in connection to the stick-up by Friday.

The violence came days after another 14-year-old boy was knifed in the leg in Staten Island – and cops were looking for a 13-year-old suspect, authorities said.

The boy was stabbed just above the knee during a clash with the young suspect around 5:45 p.m. near a building on Broad Street near Gordon Street, part of NYCHA’s Stapleton Houses, cops and sources said.

Four teens were also shot across the city – one fatally – in a flurry of violence that began on Saturday, cops said.
