Bodybuilder Marco Luis, aka ‘Monster’ dead at 46

Portuguese bodybuilder Marco Cesar Aguiar Luis, better known as “Monster,” died in Germany. 

He was 46 years old. 

Luis’ wife, Mariza Luis, confirmed the news in a Facebook post, according to the Daily Mail, in which she paid tribute to her husband and asked for privacy during her time of grieving.

The bodybuilder had gained a large following on his social media channels, with his Instagram account boasting 25,000 followers, and worked as a online coach and motivator. 

“I’m not into publications, let alone of this sort, but after so many messages, YES, I can confirm that Marco has died in Cologne, in Germany,” Mariza Luis wrote on Facebook. “He was in his ‘paradise’ doing what he loved,’” she wrote of the muscleman. “Thank you in advance for all the support I’ve received, you’ve been tireless.” 

She wrote that since he had died in another country it would take a few days for his body to be released to her.

“I ask for everyone’s understanding at this difficult time and please I ask for RESPECT!” she continued. “Marco may have had his own way of thinking and acting but he was a humble person and never hurt anyone.”

The cause of his death has not been revealed and Luis became just the latest bodybuilder to die.

Late last month, influencer and powerlifting champion Rhayara Morais was found dead in her apartment. 

Luis had called bodybuilding “his life and passion” on various social media platforms and had dubbed himself the “most shredded bodybuilder ever.”

In an emotional tribute on social media, Flavio Gouveia paid tribute to Luis. 

“We trained many times together, we did great workouts together, you were always a good-willed, cheerful person, fighting for your dreams, and you always thought about helping others, you never gave up on your dreams, to train and grow, it was what you loved to do! My condolences to your wife Marco Luis Monstro,” he wrote.
