Authorities recovered a bloody, medieval-style spear from the scene of what was believed to be a murder-suicide in Santa Ana, California.
Police are investigating the deaths of a young woman and an older man whose bodies were found Thursday afternoon at a storage facility in the city about 35 miles south of Los Angeles.
A third man, who was found alive at the scene, later died.
Santa Ana Police said the woman called them shortly before 4:30 p.m. to report “her boyfriend stabbed her and her uncle.”
Cops arrived to find the woman and “two male adults suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to their upper torso,” a police statement said.
One of the men was still alive, and was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he died.
“Homicide detectives are currently investigating the incident, and though at the early stages, believe this was a possible murder-suicide,” the statement said.
It was unclear if or how the spear was used in the killings.
The names of the three people have not been released and no motive is yet known.
