President Biden was projected to win New York’s Democratic primary, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Biden last month cleared the delegate threshold he needed to meet to win the party nomination, but his New York win could add a major boost to his numbers — with another 268 delegates on the table in the Empire State, according to a tracker from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill.
New York has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate since the late 1980s, and Biden easily beat former President Trump in New York back in 2020. The pair are set to go head-to-head again in the fall, as Trump has also hit the mark he needs for the GOP nod.
Biden on Tuesday faced nominal competition from his longshot challengers Marianne Williamson and Rep. Dean Phillips (Minn.), who has since dropped out. Trump appeared alongside several ex-rivals, including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
