‘All That’ Star Bryan Hearne Says Dan Schneider’s ‘Quiet On Set’ Apology Was “Crazy”

All That star Bryan Hearne is dissatisfied with Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider‘s apology following the release of Investigation Discovery‘s docuseries Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV.

In a video posted by TMZ, Hearne called Schneider’s mea culpa “crazy” and agreed that it was bad acting for damage control.

Schneider apologized for his past behavior back in March in a 19-minute YouTube video after accusations of misconduct surfaced via the docuseries. Before the interview, he denied toxic workplace claims in a statement through his reps.

Hearne had previously spoken about Schneider’s apology video in a bonus fifth episode of Quiet on Set. “If I could be candid, Dan was an actor before all of this,” Hearne said about Schneider’s response. “And so I think that he brushed off some chops and gave us a nice performance. Where was all this apologizing when Jennette McCurdy’s book came out?”

Aside from Bryan’s qualms with Schneider’s apology video, he says he hopes the docuseries results in real changes for child stars. He teased plans to collaborate with other former child actors to protect future child stars.

“We need to have mental health professionals on set for children,” he added. “But there needs to be therapists on hand, representing and standing up for child actors.”

He also said that “everyone really needs to start paying attention to the laws and the rules and if there’s something wrong with the laws and the rules, change them.”

Hearne said it was difficult to recount the alleged racism he faced as a child actor on the set of All That, but he felt morally obligated to speak out.

“I feel like I did my part, and we still going,” he said.

Several revelations have surfaced as a result of Quiet on Set, including that Drake Bell was the child who was sexually abused by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck. Bell has been outspoken about the incident and the network’s response since the doc’s premiere.
