Alec Baldwin Indicted On Charge Of Involuntary Manslaughter In ‘Rust’ Shooting

Alec Baldwin was indicted Friday by a grand jury on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 2021 shooting on the set of the film “Rust” that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and injured director Joel Souza.

Two special prosecutors, Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis, released a report on Friday which said that the only way the shooting occurred was by a “pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” something Baldwin previously had been adamant he hadn’t done, Variety reported.

“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” the report concluded. “Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.”

Two sources previously told NBC News that New Mexico prosecutors intended to recharge the 65-year-old actor after previously dropping the criminal charges against him, citing “new facts.”
