Aaron Rodgers already ‘excited’ with Jets taking Malachi Corley in NFL draft

The Jets’ newest receiver, Malachi Corley, already seems to be receiving a warm welcome to Mr. Rodgers’ neighborhood.

Future Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Aaron Rodgers was certainly excited over Gang Green’s third-round pick Friday night, reacting both on social media and in a text to the Jets brass.

Rodgers posted a big eyes emoji to X after the Jets made the pick for the Western Kentucky receiver after trading up to the No. 65 slot to make the selection.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh both told reporters that Rodgers was “excited.”

“Already got a text, he’s excited,” Saleh said

Corley, who has gotten some comparisons to 49ers star Deebo Samuel, set a Western Kentucky school record with 259 career receptions for 2,943 yards and 29 touchdowns.

“He’s elite with the ball in his hands,” Saleh told reporters about Corley. “He’s an angry runner. He obviously calls himself the ‘YAC KING’ and he’s deserving of it. We’ll get him here. He’s got some things to work on for sure, but at the same time, we love his mindset. We love his style of play. He’s going to bring an added element that we don’t have to our team.”

The Jets’ selection seemed to earn praise outside of 1 Jets Drive as well as inside of it.

One NFL general manager told NFL Network’s Peter Schrager that Corley “will win multiple @GMFB angry runs this year…just watch.”

Corley was live on Instagram when the Jets made their selection in the third round.

Corley was seen watching the pick on TV with family and friends, and he had already been wearing a Jets hat before the selection was announced.

The room erupted when his name was called, and when the camera panned back over to Corley, he was hugging members of his family.
