Brock Purdy is ready to be the “Anti-Hero.”
The 49ers quarterback said he was ready to break the heart of pop icon Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl on Sunday if it came down to it.
Swift is the Chiefs’ most famous fan after she went public with her relationship with star Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in September and she has become part of the NFL universe, appearing at 12 of Kelce’s games this season.
It was no surprise with the Chiefs and 49ers set to throw down with one another in Super Bowl 2024 that Purdy would face a Swift-related question during opening night on Monday.
“It’s late in the fourth quarter. Are you prepared to disappoint Taylor Swift?” NFL Network’s Scott Hanson asked Purdy with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes standing right next to him.
Mahomes burst into laughter as Hanson finished the question.
Purdy, without missing a beat, smirked and replied simply: “Yes.”
The question elicited a loud roar from the crowd at Allegiant Stadium.
Hanson fired back at him that the global superstar “might write a song about it, you never know.”
Swift was the topic of plenty of conversations during Super Bowl 2024 Opening Night on Monday as Swift and Kelce’s relationship have been as much a part of the Chiefs’ playoff run as their play on the field.
There had been a question of whether she’d be in attendance for the Super Bowl due to the resumption of her Era’s Tour.
She will be on hand to watch her boyfriend battle for his second consecutive Super Bowl ring, Page Six reported.
Kelce had lauded Swift’s successful night at the Grammy’s on Sunday when she took home Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal album.
“She’s unbelievable,” Kelce said of Swift. “She’s rewriting the history books. I told her I’ll have to hold up my end of the bargain and bring home some hardware, too.”
