Bill Maher Mocks Taylor Swift Super Bowl Conspiracy On ‘Real Time’

While there were many topics discussed on last night’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the HBO host kicked things off by mocking right-wingers who think the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce romance has anything to do with politics.

During his opening monologue, which you can watch above, Maher said the right wing is “mental” for concocting the conspiracy theory that the two celebrities are only dating so they can endorse Joe Biden for president during the 2024 Super Bowl.

In typical fashion, the comedian and political pundit eased his way into the topic with a tasteless joke. “It’s the first year we’re doing it in Las Vegas,” he said about the forthcoming Super Bowl. “It will be a little different. Prostitutes are offering a Travis Kelce special: for an extra $50 you can score in their tight end.”

He then talked about the conspiracy theory that’s been gaining traction over the past few weeks. “The right-wing, they are just mental. They have a conspiracy theory now that the whole thing is rigged, that the romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce was engineered by the Pentagon as a psyop (psycho op is exactly what it is) operation.”

He added, “and the NFL is in on it, the whole season is rigged, so that they can be in the Super Bowl, then at the Super Bowl, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, at halftime, will endorse Biden.”

He then quipped, “Well, all I have to say about this is ‘abort! they’re onto us!”

“Really? That’s what it is? This whole romance was engineered to throw an election?” he said. “Or maybe just the popular girl is dating the football player.”

Maher then poked fun at the relationship a bit. “I think Taylor Swift is great, all respect for what she has achieved, but this is so high school, is it not?” he said to his viewers. “‘My boyfriend’s a football player! I wear his jacket with his number to the game! He’s going to be prom king!’”

Later on in the show, Maher interviewed Michael Render (aka Killer Mike) from the rap duo Run the Jewels and had a panel discussion with Gov. Chris Sununu, Republican Governor of New Hampshire, and Jessica Tarlov, co-host of The Five on Fox News. The full episode is currently streaming on Max.
