The first season of the Prime Video animated musical comedy Hazbin Hotel has come to an end just three weeks after it premiered. The show was met with wide acclaim, setting a new streaming record for the most-watched new animated title on the streamer, according to a press release. Now that the Season 1 finale has aired, will there be a second season? As Charlie would sing, “We are ready for this!”
Created by Vivienne Medrano and based on her viral YouTube pilot, the series follows Princess of Hell Charlie (Erika Henningsen) as she opens a rehabilitation center for sinners in the aftermath of Heaven’s annual purge, which sees angels descending upon Hell to slaughter demons.
Over eight episodes, an exciting story unfolds, introducing viewers to the netherworld’s evil overlords, the misogynistic first human Adam (Alex Brightman), and the tricky relationship between the two afterworlds.
The season culminated in an epic battle between angels and demons, which saw a few casualties. With lives lost, blood shed, a last-minute character introduction, and Lucifer seemingly prepared to be more active in Charlie’s life, Episode 8 set up for much more to come.
Wondering if there will be a second season of Hazbin Hotel? Here’s everything we know.
Will There Be A Hazbin Hotel Season 2?
We’ve got some good news for you! Yes, there will be a second season of Hazbin Hotel. The show received a two-season order from A24 and Prime Video from the start, and the cast and creatives have already been buzzing about what’s to come.
In an interview with Pop Culture Planet, Medrano told Kristen Maldonado that the fan reception has been “unreal.” The show creator said, “We’re in a golden age of people making their own projects and them succeeding online and finding their audience.”
Medrano added that she has the show “relatively mapped out,” saying, “I know at minimum how many seasons I would need, which is more than two.” Earlier, in a YouTube Live session ahead of the premiere, Medrano joked about needing eight seasons total.
In a separate interview with Maldonado, Jessica Vosk, who plays the antagonist angel Lute, told Maldonado that her character comes “to fruition in a large way in Season 2.” Vosk shared, “She’s one of the angels that you see for one of those reasons when it comes to the arc of what happens between Heaven and Hell. I didn’t even realize the amount of badassery that I’m going into when it comes to season two, so it’s a very, very cool.”
So, there’s plenty more Hazbin Hotel on the way! As for when Season 2 will premiere, we’re not entirely sure. Though, The Mary Sue reported that Henningsen shared an Instagram Story in January that showed her in a recording booth. From what it sounds like, the scripts are written, the cast is ready, and production has begun. Our guess is that we’ll get the next drop of episodes towards the end of 2024 or in the beginning of 2025. But if we can make one plea: let the season be longer than eight episodes! That wasn’t enough.
