Gleyber Torres has just about made it through another offseason and yet again, he is still a Yankee.
Except this time around, he may actually be entering his swan-song season with the team.
Torres, who has been a popular name in trade talks the past few offseasons and trade deadlines, is coming off a year in which he was hands down the Yankees’ most consistent hitter. During a brutal season for their offense, he was the exception and instead got better.
The second baseman cut down on his strikeouts (a career-low 98, not counting the COVID-shortened 2020) and drew a career-high 67 walks. He hit .273 with 25 home runs and an .800 OPS while playing in a career-high 158 games.
