Billy Crystal, Shonda Rhimes, Jesse Tyler Ferguson to join Bill Clinton on book tour

Former President Clinton is getting some star-studded support as he hits the road to promote his forthcoming memoir, with Billy Crystal, Shonda Rhimes and Jesse Tyler Ferguson among the high-profile figures joining his book tour.

“Citizen: My Life After the White House,” to be released on Nov. 19, is described by publisher Alfred A. Knopf as a “front-row, first-person chronicle” of Clinton’s “post-presidential years and the most significant events of the 21st century, including 9/11 and the run-up to the Iraq War, the Haiti earthquake, the Great Recession, the Jan. 6 insurrection, and the enduring culture wars of our times.”

The 78-year-old former commander in chief is embarking on a five-city tour, dubbed “Bill Clinton Live: Beyond the Oval Office,” tied to the book’s release.

“When Harry Met Sally” star Crystal will join Clinton for the kick-off in New York City on Nov. 19. The next day, MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart will sit down for a conversation with Clinton in Philadelphia, followed by an event with Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) in Washington on Nov. 21. “Bridgerton” executive producer Rhimes is being tapped for a Nov. 22 stop in Stamford, Conn., and former “Modern Family” actor Ferguson will be on-hand on Dec. 6 in Little Rock, Ark.

In recent years, starry book tours have become a popular move for former first family members.

In September, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched her nationwide, ticketed book tour for “Something Lost, Something Gained,” with a chat with Katie Couric at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington.

Michelle Obama’s book tours have also traditionally featured celebrity moderators. The push to market the former first lady’s 2022 book, “The Light We Carry” included appearances alongside Oprah Winfrey, Hoda Kotb and Tyler Perry, among others.
