Every Yankee was quick to disappear into the depths of the Stadium after crumbling in a 7-6 Game 5 loss to drop the World Series to the Dodgers, extending their drought to 15 seasons.
Everyone except Juan Soto.
The star right fielder took his time in the dugout, watching the Dodgers soak in their first championship since 2020 on the Yankee Stadium diamond.
Before leaving, he pointed to the sky, in a moment that may just be his last in pinstripes.
Soto, who went 1-for-2 on Wednesday night with three walks and has held a 1.079 OPS throughout the postseason, enters the offseason as a free agent.
He can expect a wild bidding war for his talents from the Yankees, the cross-town rival Mets, and even the Dodgers who just ended his shot at a second championship.
Soto was on a one-year $31 million contract for the 2024 season — his first one with the Yankees — and now becomes the biggest question of many in whether he will stay to try to run it back or leave for an opportunity elsewhere.
