Michigan man charged with threatening to kill Biden, Harris, officials in X posts

A Michigan man was charged on Sunday with making threats to kill President Biden, Vice President Harris and other senior government officials, according to court records.

Russell Warren, 49, of Prudenville, Mich., made social media posts on X, formerly Twitter, threatening the officials and other notable figures, including journalists, celebrities, former cabinet members of the Trump administration, every 2024 presidential candidate and other politicians.

Warren’s X account, still public as of Monday, shows hundreds of messages sent Friday and Saturday, listing dozens of people he says will be killed in what he dubbed “Operation Vengeance,” additionally describing himself as “a lamb of god.”

Other messages include threats to destroy the Smithsonian museums, Air Force One, Disney theme parks, One World Trade Center and Mount Rushmore, among other locations.

U.S. Secret Service identified Warren via his IP address, and he was arrested Monday, according to court documents. He was previously arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon in 2022, investigators said.

The charge of threats against the president and other senior government officials can carry a prison sentence of up to five years. He is scheduled for his next court appearance Friday.
