Former President Donald Trump’s campaign responded to the guilty verdict in the Hunter Biden criminal case on Tuesday by saying that the trial was “a distraction” from the Biden family’s “real crimes.”
Jurors convicted Hunter Biden, 54, on all three felony counts, including lying to a federally licensed firearms dealer, making a false claim on a federal firearms background check form, and being in possession of an illegally obtained firearm. Hunter Biden faces up to 25 years in prison for his crimes and up to $750,000 in fines.
“This trial has been nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine,” said Karoline Leavitt, Trump campaign National Press Secretary. “Crooked Joe Biden’s reign over the Biden Family Criminal Empire is all coming to an end on November 5th, and never again will a Biden sell government access for personal profit.”

One of the most important takeaways from the case was confirmation from federal prosecutors that Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was exposed in October 2020 after it was left at a computer repair shop, was real.

Award-winning investigative reporter Catherine Herridge posted on X that federal investigators may not be finished investigating Hunter Biden over potential Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) violations.
“Backbone of special counsel gun case was Hunter Biden’s laptop user data,” she posted. “Pending CA tax case poses significant, potential legal jeopardy for Hunter + immediate family, calls him a ‘lobbyist’. References to Ukraine, China strongly suggest investigators exploring potential FARA violations.”
