Trump to meet with CEOs in DC at Business Roundtable event

Former President Trump is set to meet with top business leaders for a discussion hosted by the Business Roundtable (BRT) later this month in Washington, D.C.

Trump is participating in the moderated discussion at BRT’s quarterly meeting on June 13, his campaign announced on Wednesday.

BRT, the lobbying group for business leaders, is made up of more than 200 CEOs from leading U.S. companies. BRT’s president is Joshua Bolten, former chief of staff to President George W. Bush, and its board includes Chairman Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco, as well as JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and General Motors CEO Mary Barra.

BRT said it invited both Trump and President Biden, and while the former president accepted, the president will be in Italy for the Group of Seven summit. White House chief of staff Jeff Zients is slated to attend in his place.

It is “usual practice” for BRT to invite both major political parties’ presumptive nominees to address the June meeting, and Biden was invited as a candidate in 2020, BRT spokesperson Michael Steel said.

“We look forward to a discussion of policy issues with former President Trump next week and hope that President Biden will be able to join us again in the future,” Steel said.

The Trump campaign said he will discuss “how he will restore prosperity to the American economy” and touted that he “stands prepared” to build “the stronger economy in the world” again.
