Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend likes posts urging Fever to sign enforcer

Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend wants the Fever to add reinforcements.

In the wake of Saturday’s controversial foul against the Indiana rookie by Chicago Sky veteran Chennedy Carter, Connor McCaffery subtly responded to a series of social media posts imploring the Fever to land an enforcer, a la James Johnson of the Pacers.

McCaffery liked one post on X that read, “Fever need to sign the wnba version of James Johnson,” and another, “Tyrese [Haliburton] had a finger laid on him once and the Pacers called up James Johnson. The Fever gotta call up somebody to take care of business.”

Johnson, a 37-year-old vet, signed a one-year deal with Indiana in December following a postgame incident involving Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Upon putting up a whopping 64 points against Indiana, Antetokounmpo sought the game ball, which a member of the Pacers’ personnel had intended to give to rookie Oscar Tshiebwe, who scored his first NBA point during the contest, according to Bleacher Report.

Footage of the broadcast captured Antetokounmpo sprinting toward the visitors’ locker room, as NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Bucks security retrieved the ball for the eight-time NBA All-Star.

Johnson, who holds a second-degree black belt and has fought MMA matches, joined the team shortly after.

McCaffery, a former Iowa basketball player, is reportedly on the Pacers’ staff.

He, along with Clark’s brother Colin, also liked a message on X that read: “Angel Reese hopping off the bench to throw a parade for Caitlin Clark’s murder is crazy lollll,” according to the Daily Mail.

As the seconds ticked down in the third quarter of Saturday’s game, a 71-70 Fever win, Carter made a basket before defending Clark, who sought an inbounds pass.

Carter then hip-checked Clark, who fell to the ground, and Carter was called for a foul.

Carter’s teammate and Sky rookie Angel Reese jumped up from the bench and applauded, as seen on the broadcast.

Carter, who refused to answer questions about Clark postgame, was assessed a Flagrant 1 by the WNBA on Sunday.

Reese was also fined by the league for not making herself available to the media on Saturday.

Saturday marked the first WNBA matchup between Clark and Reese, who faced off in the 2023 national championship game. Reese’s LSU Tigers defeated Clarks’ Hawkeyes, 102-85.

Clark and the Fever dropped to 2-9 on Sunday following a dreadful 104-68 loss to the Liberty.

McCaffrey, who has been dating Clark for over a year, liked a separate post on X that featured the first overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft spending time with young fans at Barclays Center before the game.

The Fever will next tip off on Friday, June 7, against the Mystics.
