Sunny Hostin Is Still Hacked Off About 2016; Blames ‘Sexism’ For Clinton Loss

“The View” host Sunny Hostin made it clear on Tuesday that she has not yet recovered from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

Hostin complained that Clinton must have been the victim of sexism, and claimed it was obvious she had been the “most qualified” candidate that the United States had “ever had.”

“What’s interesting to me with Hillary was that she pointed to the sexism that was so obvious because she was the most qualified candidate that I think we’ve ever had. We’re talking Senator, we’re talking Secretary of State, we’re talking lawyer, valedictorian of her class, I mean, just a brilliant woman,” Hostin said.

Hostin went on to note that Clinton herself had recently complained about women not coming out to support her, arguing that black women had.

“Ninety-some percent of black women turned out for her, 67% of Hispanic women turned out for her,” Hostin continued, pivoting to blame white women for Clinton’s loss. “There were 53% of white women that turned to Trump — I will never understand that statistic, actually.”

Gritting her teeth, she added, “I hope that does not happen again.”

Hostin went on to claim that Trump was an “existential threat” to everyone, but “to women in particular.”

Joy Behar cut in then, claiming that women running for office were often expected to be “perfect” in ways that men were not.

Clinton has recently made several comments about her 2016 loss, saying that Democrats had gotten “complacent” about abortion in particular and had falsely believed that Roe v. Wade would never be reversed.

“We didn’t take it seriously, and we didn’t understand the threat. Most Democrats, most Americans, did not realize we are in an existential struggle for the future of this country,” she said.
