Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said in a Sunday interview that pollster Nate Silver’s suggestion that President Biden leaves the presidential ticket is “ridiculous” at this stage in the election cycle.
“No, it’s not a conversation worth having,” Moskowitz told Fox News’s Shannon Bream when asked in an interview on “Fox News Sunday” whether Biden should consider leaving the ticket.
Silver, who founded the prominent polling website FiveThirtyEight, said in a recent podcast interview that Biden, the presumptive Democratic candidate for president, should consider leaving the Democratic ticket if his polling numbers don’t improve by August.
Biden and former President Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, have been neck and neck with each other in recent months. The latest national polling average from The Hill’s Decision Desk HQ shows Trump with a 1-point lead over Biden in a head-to-head match – a lead within most polls’ margins of error.
However, a recent set of New York Times/Siena College polls of battleground states showed Trump leading in five of six, which Silver has said could portend trouble for Biden.
Moskowitz pushed back on any doubt over who should be leading the party’s ticket, in the Sunday interview.
“Nate, thanks for your participation. This is ridiculous. We’re well past that conversation. President Biden is going to be the nominee. We’re going to have our convention and he’s going to win in November. This is going to be between two people,” Moskowitz said.
“The way I look at the election is do you want Trump back or do you not. That is the crux of the issue,” Moskowitz continued, noting that is what voters will be evaluating when they head to the polls in November.
“If you’re for a woman’s right to choose, you won’t be voting for President Trump,” Moskowitz said.
