‘Took it like a champ’

Blast zone.

A woman attending a Hawaii bachelor party ended up learning the messy way what gender her friend’s baby was going to be in a hilarious viral TikTok video posted earlier this week.

To make the joyous announcement, Leilani Magaoay and her boyfriend Franz-Geoffrey Ordoni invited friends and family to watch them discover if their first child would be a boy or a girl over the weekend.

Their guests gathered around to watch as Ordonia lifted a barbell and dropped it on two bags below, each containing a colored powder indicating the baby’s sex.

As the weight hits the bags, a spray of blue powder comes bursting out toward the crowd, while Magaoay and others are seen jumping for joy over the news that the couple would be having a baby boy.

Unfortunately, one of their guests, Lila Wong, found out the hard after she was doused in the face with the blue powder.

Wong, who was sitting in the front row, had her whole face and hair covered as she quickly started rubbing away the blue substance from her eyes while laughing at being completely drenched.

After hugging his girlfriend over the news, Ordonia pointed out the mess that had been made.

Another party goer is seen trying to help Wong clean her face off, while others giggle at the harmless outcome.

As the moment finally settles in, Magaoay sees that her friend is covered in blue and begins to laugh along with the rest of the party over the funny mistake.

“Thank you Lila for taking one for the team… team BOY!!” The caption of Magaoay’s TikTok read.

“She’s doing great & laughing with all of us. A day to remember for sure!”

The TikTok, which has garnered over 400,000 views and more than 33,000 likes since being posted on Monday, received a smattering of hilarious reactions in the comment section.

“The way the mom was happy then concerned then happy again,” one user commented, to which Magaoay replied, “I was so shocked at both her and our reaver I didn’t know where to cry or laugh.”

“She protected the dessert. A hero,” another wrote, to which the mother to be commented back, “Only heroes wear blue.”

“She took it like a champ. But the parents’ reaction was so hilarious,” another TikTok user wrote.

Holi Powder is the most common powder used in gender reveals and is a harmless cornstarch and/or rice-based powder that is safe to cover with and easy to clean up.

Outside of gender reveals, the powder is most commonly used during the Hindu festival of Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring, where festival goers cover each other head to toe in the substance.

While the couple picked a unique way to announce their first child, it’s far from some of the more theatrical and over-the-top gender reveals that have transpired over the past years.

Last month, a Lithuanian influencer’s gender reveal party, which included a trio of airplanes leaving smoke-like trails in the sky, divided the internet as many critics called out the “pompous” celebration.

In January, baseball Hall of Famer David Ortiz had the internet in stitches after he swung and missed during his baseball-themed gender reveal party to announce he was having a baby boy.
