2019 Attack On Trump Comes Back To Bite Biden: He ‘Endorses His Own Impeachment’

Critics mocked President Joe Biden over a resurfaced tweet from 2019, saying that what he had meant to be an attack on then-President Donald Trump turned out to be a prescient endorsement of his own impeachment.

Biden’s tweet, sent amid the furor over Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claimed that Democrats were right to impeach him for suggesting he’d withhold promised aid money and munitions if certain conditions were not met.

“President Trump withheld Congressionally appropriated aid to Ukraine unless they granted him a political favor,” Biden tweeted on October 18, 2019. “It’s the definition of quid pro quo. This is no joke — Trump continues to put his own personal, political interests ahead of the national interest. He must be impeached.”

But as a number of critics had pointed out, what Biden said on CNN on Wednesday — that he would withhold ammunition that had already been promised and approved by Congress if Israel mounted a ground offensive in Rafah — amounted to the same thing.

“Joe Biden endorses his own impeachment,” he posted.

The Federalist’s Sean Davis added, “Joe Biden withheld Congressionally appropriated aid to Israel unless they granted him a political favor. It’s the definition of quid pro quo. This is no joke — Biden continues to put his own personal, political interests ahead of the national interest. He must be impeached.”

“Joe Biden is withholding Congressionally appropriated aid to Israel unless they grant him a political favor. It’s the definition of quid pro quo. ‘If they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah,’” Steve Guest posted.

“There’s a tweet for everything,” Rich Goldberg noted.

“Wow — how newly relevant,” Jonathan Levine commented.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro summed it up in just one word: “Welp.”
