‘Night Court’ Renewed For Season 3 By NBC

NBC‘s Night Court revival starring Melissa Rauch and John Larroquette has been renewed for Season 3.

Its sophomore season just recently concluded with its finale on March 26.

According to Deadline, the renewal had been delayed due to negotiations on episode count between the broadcast network and producing studio Warner Bros. TV.

Season 3 will feature 18 total episodes, five more than last season (due to the strikes). The show’s first season had a total of 16 episodes.

The original Night Court first aired in 1984 and quickly became a hit. Larroquette appeared in the original series and has been reprising his character in the revival.

The revival has become NBC’s #1 primetime comedy in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo, securing its place at the top of the roster.

Season 2, which was executive produced by Rauch, Larroquette, Dan Rubin and Winston Rauch, has reached 24 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms to date.

Rauch stars as Abby Stone, daughter of the late Judge Harry Stone (played by Harry Anderson in the original show), who oversees the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court. She enlists the help of former night court district attorney Dan Fielding (Larroquette) to serve as the court’s public defender.

Night Court is produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with After January Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
