The Packers boosted their offensive line on Thursday night, but one supporter of the team was just not having it.
With the No. 25 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Packers selected offensive tackle Jordan Morgan out of Arizona to help protect quarterback Jordan Love.
And even after he won All-Pac-12 honors and yielded just two sacks over 787 snaps in 2023, one Packers fan who was watching the draft unfold live in Detroit was beside himself when the pick was announced.
After commissioner Roger Goodell called out the pick, the ESPN feed’s cameras cut to the fan, wearing a Love jersey and a cheese head while recording the selection on his phone.
The fan’s face said it all, looking completely stunned with a gaping wide mouth as the fans around him literally pointed and laughed at his expense.
Seemingly gobsmacked by the selection, he put his head down in disappointment.
“That particular cheese head doesn’t seem excited,” Mike Greenberg said on the broadcast.
It’s unclear whom the fan would have wanted the Packers to take in that spot, but he was clearly unhappy with the move.
The Post’s Steve Serby did project the Packers to take an offensive tackle at the 25 spot in his final mock draft, though Amarius Mims was not available after getting snagged at No. 18 by the Bengals.
The Packers fan did not share the same sentiment as others around the game, as current free agent and 10-year Packers offensive line veteran David Bakhtiari lauded the selection.
“Let’s go!!!! Good luck to Jordan Morgan,” he wrote on X. “Represent the position, town, and G with pride. #gopackgo #pac12guy”
Robert Griffin III wrote that Morgan is the perfect replacement on the line for Bakhtiari.
“The Packers will Packer but Jordan Morgan is the pick you make when you just lost the Great David Bakhtiari,” Griffin posted on X. “The Packers made the right pick, the smart pick and Jordan Love will thank them for it. Jordan Morgan is BIG, smart and talented. He will develop into a starter quickly.”
Morgan battled injuries during his tenure with Arizona but still started 37 games.
