Kelsey Plum and Darren Waller have called it quits after one year of marriage.
The WNBA star, 29, and the NFL player, 31, filed a joint petition for divorce in Clark County, Nev., Page Six can confirm. People was the first to report the news.
Soon after, Plum confirmed the news on Instagram, telling her followers she was “devastated” by the decision.
“I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go,” she wrote atop a black screen on her = Story.
“God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends,” the Las Vegas Aces star continued.
“One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day. Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy. Much love KP.”
Plum concluded the post by writing, “Philippians 1:6,” which reads, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
The former Las Vegas Raiders player has yet to address their split online. However, he posted several photos from his recent trip to Hawaii just one day before filing to end his marriage.
“Peace of mind is not a destination to reach; it’s a state of mind to embrace,” he captioned the carousel.
He included several cryptic quotes in the post, including one about finding “beauty” in “imperfection” and giving oneself grace.
The couple dated for about a year before tying the knot in March 2023. However, just one week after their wedding, the tight end was traded across the country to the New York Giants.
Waller told the Post in September that he got the call just “12 hours” after he and Plum returned from their honeymoon in Amanyara, Turks & Caicos.
“So, it’s not how anybody would really want to start being married,” he said. “But if you ever find yourself trying to resist change, it’s never going to be a good thing.”
At the time, Waller said he and Plum were still trying to work on communication while navigating their busy schedules as professional athletes.
Four months later, fans suspected there might be trouble in paradise after Waller posted a TikTok of himself dancing to a breakup song, captioned, “When ya girl bout to leave you 🤣.”
However, the NFL star later told TMZ he was just goofing around.
On top of grappling with the end of his marriage, Waller also has a lot on the line career-wise.
Earlier in the year, the athlete told members of the Giants organization that he was contemplating retirement. Despite the NFL draft being a week away, Waller has yet to decide.
“I’m at the point now where I’m like, ‘Is this something that I want to continue to invest my time, invest my body, invest my mind in?’ And I’ve got to come to a decision on that,” Waller told People earlier this month.
“And it’s to the point where it’s like, man, I don’t feel like I’ve really done a lot. In some ways, my life hasn’t really started.”
