Five people, including two kids, were found dead after being “violently” killed inside a suburban Oklahoma City home — with a 10-year-old boy finding the bodies, according to officials.
“This wasn’t a gas leak situation or a fentanyl-type situation, these are five people who were killed,” Oklahoma City police Sgt. Gary Knight said of the gruesome crime scene early Monday in Yukon.
“These people died violently.”
Police said they were at the “early stages” of the investigation and did not immediately appeal for possible suspects.
A gun was found on top of a male victim, according to a request made in Canadian County District Court, although officials did not immediately declare it a murder-suicide.
A 10-year-old boy discovered the bodies, a law enforcement official told the Oklahoman, without elaborating.
The five were not immediately identified — including whether they were all members of the same family — but included two kids, officials said
“We’re talking about children being inside this home and being victims of this. It’s a very tragic, very sad situation.”
The children were a sixth-grader at Meadow Brook Intermediate and a ninth-grader at Mustang High School, district superintendent Charles Bradley told families in an email Monday, detailing how another of the five had graduated just last year.
“We are shocked, and our hearts are broken; this tragedy simply defies understanding,” Bradley wrote.
Police had a strong presence on the cul-de-sac where the victims were found Monday, keeping the area blocked off to anyone but neighbors.
In a video statement, Knight noted investigators were in the “very early stages” of their investigation and that detectives were working to obtain a warrant to enter the home.
Police plan to send a crime scene investigation team “to process the scene,” Knight added.
Police wouldn’t comment further as the investigation is ongoing.
