UConn championship clinches four-leg parlay that wins $232,000

It’s still early, but we have a contender for parlay of the year already in 2024.

A New Hampshire bettor placed a $100 wager on DraftKings Sportsbook on Feb. 16 for $100 that would win $231,678.13 on a four-leg, mixed-sport parlay.

The parlay consisted of UFC fighter Ilia Topuria (+105) beating Alexander Volkanovski, UConn winning the men’s national championship (+650), South Carolina winning the women’s tournament (+125) and the longest of long shots, Hideki Matsuyama winning The Genesis Invitational (66/1).

The total odds were an astounding +231678 — or roughly 2,316/1 — and had a .04 percent implied chance of winning.

Circa Sportsbook director of operations Jeffrey Benson mentioned on X there was some hedging that went down on the Purdue Boilermakers prior to Monday’s loss to the Huskies.

“$20k in total on Purdue in straight bets/parlays,” he said.

Prior to Final Four weekend, the cashout option on the bet was just less than six figures, Benson said.

This bet became extremely live after Topuria knocked out Volkanovski on Feb. 17 and Matsuyama completed his victory on Feb. 19.

With just the favored UConn Huskies and South Carolina Gamecocks to go, the top seed in their respective tournament, the bet was within reach.

The Gamecocks took down Iowa’s Caitlin Clark in the women’s national championship, going wire-to-wire as clear favorites.

Meanwhile, coach Dan Hurley led UConn to six consecutive victories by double digits and a dominant Men’s March Madness run.

Their final win over Purdue officially clinched a victory for this wild parlay, which rivals two 2023 bets that won boatloads of money.

One bet turned $166 into $996,000 on a 19-leg parlay with incredible luck, and a 10-match tennis parlay won $486,000 on just a $29 wager.
