The Biden administration’s climate envoy John Kerry was gruff with a reporter on Tuesday when questioned about the “carbon footprint” caused by his attendance at the World Economic Forum’s Davos conference. When the reporter asked Kerry why he thought his carbon footprint didn’t matter, Kerry replied, “Nobody ever suggested that. Don’t make up stupid questions.”
In 2019, Kerry defended his use of a private jet to fly to Iceland, calling it “the only choice for somebody like me who is traveling the world to win this battle” against climate change.
“I have to fly to meet with people and get things done,” Kerry said.
Kerry plans to step down as special climate envoy in late winter or early spring.
