Flights grounded, Holland Tunnel closed

New York-area flights were grounded and the Holland Tunnel was closed for inspection Friday morning in the aftermath of a 4.7-magnitude earthquake that struck New Jersey, causing headaches for travelers all over the region.

Within hours of the tremors at 10:23 a.m., the Holland Tunnel was temporarily held up for inspection, and drivers were cautioned about delays.

Flights out LaGuardia, and Newark airports were also grounded, resulting in hours of anticipated delays at some of the busiest flights hubs in the country.

A similar ground stop at JFK airport was lifted shortly before 11:40.
