President Biden has won the Rhode Island Democratic presidential primary, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.
Biden became the presumptive nominee last month after clinching enough delegates for the nomination. His win in the Ocean State will award him at least 21 of its 26 pledged delegates up for grabs.
Biden was the only active candidate on the ballot as the only other name, Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.), has dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden. But voters could also choose the “uncommitted” option on the ballot or write in another name.
Some Democratic voters have chosen the uncommitted option in various states that have the option on the ballot to protest the Biden administration’s position on the war between Israel and Hamas. The effort has seen its biggest success in Minnesota, where it received 11 delegates, and Hawaii, where it received seven.
