It looks like one Hollywood actor is not being very nice (as Borat would say). Rebel Wilson has named Sacha Baron Cohen as the “massive asshole” who has allegedly threatened to block her upcoming memoir, Rebel Rising.
The drama started when Wilson revealed that Chapter 23 in her book was dedicated to a “massive asshole” she once worked with.
“Do you wanna know why I have a ‘no assholes’ policy now with people I work with? …Well it’s all in the book: REBEL RISING,” she captioned a March 15 Instagram post. “Oh and YES I name the asshole!”
But over the weekend, the Pitch Perfect star claimed on her Instagram Story that she was being “threaten[ed]” by said “asshole,” who allegedly hired a PR manager and lawyers in an attempt to “stop press coming out” about her new book. She added, “The book WILL come out and you will all know the truth.”
While she didn’t specifically name anyone in her original posts, Wilson later returned to her Instagram Story to reveal exactly who she was talking about.
“I will not be bullied or silenced with high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers,” she wrote. “The ‘asshole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”
Wilson and Baron Cohen starred as husband and wife in the 2016 comedy The Brothers Grimsby. She previously claimed the actor tried to pressure her into stripping down in the movie — to the point where she threatened to call their shared agent over how much he was “harassing” her.
“Every day he’s like, ‘Just go naked, it will be funny. Remember in Borat when I did that naked scene? It was hilarious,’” Wilson recalled on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show in 2014, per The Guardian. “On the last day I thought I’d obviously won the argument and he got a body double to do the naked scene.”
The Bridesmaids star even claimed that Baron Cohen wanted her to stick her finger up his butt in one scene — but she swiftly reminded him that that was not in the script. “He’s like, ‘Look, I’ll just pull down my pants, you just stick your finger up my butt, it’ll be a really funny bit,’” she said.
Wilson ultimately compromised to avoid seeming like a “diva,” telling him she’d “slap [him] once on the butt and that’s it.”
Decider has reached out to Baron Cohen’s reps for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
