Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary apologizes after slamming Meghan Markle in scathing interview

Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith sheepishly apologized for criticizing Meghan Markle, whom he nicknamed “laughing girl,” in an interview with the Times U.K.

Throughout the discussion — which was conducted before the Princess of Wales announced she had been diagnosed with cancer — Goldsmith slammed the Duchess of Sussex’s marriage to Prince Harry.

“As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday’s ‘Times Magazine.’ This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate,” the “Celebrity Big Brother” alum, 58, wrote on X Friday.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article,” he went on. “I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies. Let’s give Kate, William & the children time and show some love back.”

“Stop talking about them. Just stop. Stop using them to try and make yourself relevant. You aren’t in the know. This is why you aren’t in the know. You keep running your mouth,” one person responded to his tweet, while another chimed in, “Should have kept you mouth shut – no loyalty shame on you.”

Throughout the interview, Goldsmith called the “Suits” alum, 39, “fickle” and “bad for our country.”

He also didn’t appreciate that Markle accused members of the royal family of making racist remarks about her son Archie’s skin color. Though Markle and Harry never revealed who made the alleged comments, Dutch copies of Omid Scobie’s book, “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival” claimed it was Middleton and King Charles III.

“That’s why it makes me so angry about what Meghan said about Kate,” he continued. “Me and Carole [Middleton] grew up in a community as diverse as a Woolies pick’n’mix counter.”

“All the cultures you can think of. The idea that Laughing Girl says Kate is racist makes me furious. Kate knows her family’s roots and is proud of them. I’m sorry, but Laughing Girl is not good people.”

The Times Magazine noted that the interview was conducted before Middleton, 42, shared a video message in which she revealed she’s in the early stages of preventative chemotherapy.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” she said. “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

In the wake of the news, Goldsmith also said he would be pulling out of the UK “Celebrity Big Brother” final on Friday night.

“Following today’s news, I will not be attending tonight’s Celebrity Big Brother final,” he wrote on X.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my fellow Housemates and to everyone involved in the making of this brilliant show,” he added. “I hope you all enjoy your special night.”
