Lisa Vanderpump thinks Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s split was a long time coming.
Speaking of their bombshell breakup, the “Vanderpump Rules” star told E! News Monday, “Everybody predicted [they’d split] when they got married.”
“They said, ‘Oh this won’t last long,’ but I kind of never liked to draw conclusions.”
Vanderpump, 63, seemingly speculated Taylor’s history of cheating on Cartwright, 35, might have also played a role in their separation.

“I don’t know what the reason was — but I imagine it was probably something to do with Jax’s bad behavior,” she continued.
“I’m not sure, but the indicator of future behavior is normally past behavior.”
Ahead of the couple announcing their split on Feb. 29, the cast of “Vanderpump Rules” discussed Taylor’s loyalty to his wife during last week’s episode of the reality show — which was filmed last summer.
While discussing why Ariana Madix stayed unhappy in her long-term relationship with ex Tom Sandoval before his months-long affair with Raquel Leviss was exposed, Scheana Shay explained, “You don’t really know until you’re in it.”
“You can’t judge because you don’t know,” she continued. “Look at Jax and Brittany! They were married and had a baby! I could not believe that when they did.”
“There’s still stories about him running around town,” Shay added, while her co-star Lala Kent further said she also “heard” rumblings about Taylor’s alleged infidelity.
“It’s beyond,” Kent said.
Taylor, 44, recently denied those allegations in an interview with Page Six during the premiere party for his and Cartwright’s new reality show, “The Valley.”
“I know that everybody is out there saying I cheated. That’s not true,” he said last week. “It’s just a communication thing. Believe it or not, people can separate [for reasons] other than cheating.”
Taylor first cheated on Cartwright in 2017, when they were both on “Vanderpump Rules.”
The couple seemingly worked through their problems, however, as they tied the knot on camera two years later in 2019. After leaving “Vanderpump Rules,” they welcomed their 2-year-old son, Cruz, in April 2021.
Last month, Cartwright revealed she and her husband were separating after five years of marriage during an episode of their “Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany” podcast.
“Yes, marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year,” she announced at the time. “Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”
A day later, Cartwright was spotted moving into a new rental property — a month after she moved out of her and her ex’s shared home in Los Angeles, sources told Page Six.
The mom of one also opened up about the split in an interview with us last week, explaining, “We’ve been together nine years, and people stop appreciating and take you for granted after some time — and that should never happen in a marriage.”
Cartwright further said that a lack of intimacy led to the breakup. “I asked him to do little things — four little things — and … go to therapy was one of them. He hasn’t done that yet,” she said.
“So there’s little things that I’ve asked him to do. We’ll see if he does it all, but we’ll also see if it changes anything.”
