Machine Gun Kelly is giving fans more insight into his decision to cover much of his fan-favorite chest and arm tattoos with a dramatic — and now viral — blackout tattoo.
In his new piano rap ballad “Don’t Let Me Go” released Wednesday, MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, says, “Wish I didn’t listen just like I wish they would understand me one time / I had a breakdown and tatted my entire body except one line / Everything’s just fine.”
His lyrics refer to his massive new ink, which he debuted via Instagram on Tuesday.
“For spiritual purposes only,” he captioned the post, which revealed a body of work that covered his entire upper chest — even his nipples — black.
The 33-year-old’s colorful arm tats have also been largely blacked out by the new art.
Some of the “Bad Things” rapper’s fans couldn’t believe their eyes and wondered if the ink was just temporary black paint. However, a rep for tattoo artists Roxx and Cats confirmed to The Post that the ink is “very permanent.”
“The tattoo was completed over Christmas and NY by ROXX. MGK was the toughest client she’s ever worked with,” the rep said on Tuesday.
Some critics accused the rapper of wanting to get the ink because he wanted to “turn black.”
“Ok I can’t defend this guy anymore,” one person commented about MGK, who has faced longtime criticism from bouncing between rap and pop punk.
But commenters on the “Don’t Let Me Go” music video on YouTube widely applauded him for his rap comeback.
“I don’t give a s–t what others think of him this dude really feels like home to me, i grew up listening to his songs and i really wish that i could meet him in person,” one fan wrote.
A second added, “I cant stand all of the hatred this man gets.”
“He could’ve put any song for his single, something more upbeat to play on the radios, but instead, MGK put his heart and soul into the music first,” a third said of the deeply-personal song. “Total respect, and this is definitely a wonderful song, despite how raw and sad it is. A true musician.”
MGK also alluded to his and fiancée Megan Fox’s “very difficult” miscarriage on the new track, which the “Transformers” star first spoke about in November.
“How can I live with the fact that my hand wasn’t on her stomach when we lost the baby?” he raps in the song.
The Post has contacted a rep for MGK and Fox for comment.
